Launching a FeliCa i-
α
ppli to read and record IC card data
This function launches a FeliCa i-
α
ppli from the Software List display. You can then use the FeliCa i-
α
ppli to perform
a range of useful tasks, including reading or recording data on the IC card, topping the card up with electronic cash
or travel vouchers, or checking your balance and transaction history from your mobile phone.
● Take care to manage your security codes and service passwords carefully.
●
The events listed below will interrupt the transfer of data between an i
-
α
ppli and the IC card. When this happens, the data
that has been transferred is discarded. The action required when the call ends differs depending on the service being
used.

ppli is running
・ Battery failure

Holding the FeliCa icon side of the FOMA terminal over a reader/writer unit (external)
This function allows you to use your FOMA terminal as a train ticket or to make purchases using electronic cash
simply by holding the FeliCa icon (
) on the FOMA terminal over a reader/writer (external device). This function
can be used without having to launch a software application.
● You can hold the FeliCa icon side of the FOMA terminal over a reader/writer unit (external) and use the IC functions
during a call or during i-mode connection, but you cannot launch a FeliCa i-
α
ppli.

Hold the FeliCa icon ( ) on the FOMA terminal over a reader/writer (external
device) to use the desired service.
Notes
● Install the battery pack when using the IC card functions. You can still hold the FeliCa icon on the FOMA terminal over an external reader/writer unit
and use the IC card functions when the FOMA terminal is turned off or out of battery charge, but you cannot launch a FeliCa i-
α
ppli. Note that
leaving the FOMA terminal without charging it after you have used the battery pack for a long period or the battery low alarm has sounded may
prevent you from using the FOMA terminal later. Always charge the battery pack in such situations.
● If the FOMA terminal does not recognize the IC card, try changing the direction in which you move the FOMA terminal.
Hold the FeliCa icon ( ) over the reader/writer
(external device) scanner.
