2. Install the snap-on electrical box cover by firmly pressing down on all corners and install the screw and
tighten to 18 in-lb (2 N·m).
3. Install the air intake hose onto the carburetor.
4. Connect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Connecting The Battery on page 1-3.
LOCKOUT CAM LIMIT SWITCH

Testing the Lockout Cam Limit Switch

Lockout Cam Limit Switch Removal
1. Turn the key switch OFF and remove the key. Place the Forward/Reverse handle in the NEUTRAL posi-
tion. Chock the wheels.
2. Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Disconnecting The Battery on page 1-3.
3. Disconnect the wires from the lockout cam limit switch (5) located on the back of the Forward/Reverse
shifter assembly (Figure 12-34, Page 12-28) .
4. Remove two nuts (2) and washers (6) from the lockout cam limit switch (5) and slide the lockout cam limit
switch off of the screws.
Lockout Cam Limit Switch Installation
1. Install the limit switch (5) with washers (6) and nuts (2) and tighten to 5 in-lb (0.6 N·m) (Figure 12-34,
Page 12-28) . Place the Forward/Reverse handle in REVERSE to make sure that both switches actuate.

CAUTION
• Do not overtighten the retaining nuts. If the nuts are overtightened, limit switches could be
damaged.
2. Connect the black wire to the common (COM) terminal and the green wire to the normally open (NO) ter-
minal of the lockout cam limit switch. See Wiring Diagrams, Section 11, Page 11-6.
3. Connect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Connecting The Battery on page 1-3.
4. With the Forward/Reverse handle in the NEUTRAL position, the lockout cam should be activating the
lockout cam limit switch. Make sure everyone is clear of the vehicle.
5. Turn the key switch to the START position. The engine should crank only when the Forward/Reverse
handle is in the NEUTRAL position.
6. Test drive the vehicle in both forward and reverse for proper operation.
