7.5 DMP Explorer
7.5.1 Solid Supports are Failing to Process
Export the Solidsupports as an stL, never as a slice file (.cli) because the slice export often contains errors in the file.
7.5.2 Processing Fails with “Errors during hatching”
A. Symptoms
Processing a part fails at a random step during the hatching process, e.g. Hatching (15/61).
The message logging shows part failed, …. (during hatching with HatchWise: Errors during hatching).
B. Cause
This error is due to slice data handling by the hatching program
(HatchWise), that is incapable of interpreting contours that are
intersecting each other. A more robust hatching data handling
algorithm is under developed.
1. Solutions
Solid Supports. See “Solid Supports are Failing to Process”,
at the top of the page.
2. Try with other DMP Slicer parameter set:
• Expand the “processing options” in DMP Explorer, by
clicking the arrow button.
• Then select “DMP Slicer set” = 0 [no filtering] or 3
[lower accuracy]’.
• Restart the process
• If the process keeps failing, select another DMP Slicer
set
3. In case previous steps keep failing, you can try to slice the
part first with modified slicing parameters. To do this:
• Start DMP Slicer (C:\3D Systems\DMP Slicer\DMP
Slicer.exe)
• Set the correct layer thickness and modify the slicer parameters
• Drag the resulting slice file (*.sli) into DMP Explorer instead of the stl file
• DMP Explorer will then process the – already sliced – file.
4. Fix the stl file OR re-triangulate the stl file and try again. Re-triangulating will slightly move the triangle points and as such
can prevent the slicing from crashing.
5. If it still fails, try the a shrinkwrap function to recreate all triangles of the stl file.
