neighboring  router  after  waiting  the interval,  the  OSPF  router  regards 
that the neighbor is down and downs the neighbor actively. By default, 
the dead time is four multiples of the hello time. The default hello time 
depends on the network type. The no format of the command is used 
to recover the default value of the neighbor dead time.

You  can  specify  the  dead-interval  of  one  address  on  the 
OSPF interface separately.

The  dead  time  is  not  configured  and  adopts  the 

default value. 

 

 Note 

If  the  interval  of  sending  hello  packets  is  modified  and  the  dead  time 
adopts  the  default  value  (it  is  four  multiples  of  the  hello  interval,  the 
corresponding  dead  time  is  modified,  that  is,  four  multiples  of  the  hello 
interval. But  if  the dead time  does not  adopt  the default  value (it is  not 
four  multiples  of  the  hello  interval),  modifying  the  hello  interface  does 
not affect the dead time. 
 

Modifying the dead time does not affect the hello interval. 

 
If two OSPF interfaces need to set up the neighboring relation, the dead 

time must be consistent. 

 

ip ospf mtu 

This  command  is  used  to  specify  the  maximum  transmission  unit  of 
the  OSPF  interface.  To  avoid  splitting  when  encrypting  the  OSPF 
packets, the packet size is restricted to be smaller than the MTU value 
of the interface. By default, it is the MTU value of the physical interface. 
The no format of the command is used to recover the default value of 
the maximum transmission unit of the OSPF interface.
