If the edit buffer is not full, then the key is inserted at the location of the cursor and the cursor shifts
right or the system gives alarm bell
Backspace key
To delete the character before cursor location. If the cursor has arrived at the beginning of the
command, the system gives alarm bell
Delete key
To delete the character on the cursor location. If the cursor has arrived at the end of the command, the
system gives alarm bell
Left cursor key , ^B

To left shift the cursor one character location. If the cursor has arrived at the beginning of the
command, the system gives alarm bell
Right cursor key , ^F
→
To right shift the cursor one character location. If the cursor has arrived at the end of the command, the
system gives alarm bell
Up or down cursor key

To display history commands

To shift cursor to the beginning of command line
^E
To shift cursor to the end of the command line
^U
To delete all characters on the left of the cursor until the cursor arrives at the beginning of the command
line
^K
To delete all characters on right of cursor until cursor arrives at the end of command line
Display Features
Command-line Interface provides the following displaying features to facilitate users:
When the information needed cannot be displayed on one screen, the system offers the pause
function and displays a prompt “(--MORE--)” at the bottom left corner of the screen. Following
are some choices for users:
Type Space key or key ‘
↑
’ or Ctrl-F to continue displaying the messages of the next screen;
Type ‘
↑
’ key or Ctrl-B to display the messages of the previous screen;
Type ENTER or key ‘=’ or ‘
→
’ to scroll down one line of the displayed messages on screen.
Type key ‘-’ or ‘
←
’ to scroll up one line of the displayed message on screen
Type any other keystrokes, the system is not going to display the unfinished messages but
display the system prompt directly.
