This is command is used to configure the management status of the port. After one port
is disabled, it does not send or receive any frame. Therefore, it does not have any
function. The port status includes UP and DOWN. When one port is disabled, its status
must be DOWN.
To disable one port, use the command. Otherwise, use the no format.

Note
Even a port is no shutdown; its status may not be up. The status also depends on other
situations, for example, the network cable is not inserted or the port is closed temporarily.
Description
For memorizing easily, you can configure the description information for a port. For
example, a port is allocated to company A, and you can configure its description
information as “company A”. Description information consists of up to 240 characters and
space can be input among characters.
By default, there is no description information for a port.
