3. In the first keyer, choose the desired key source and key type, and follow the proper set
of instructions for programming the key. Refer to the appropriate section earlier in this
chapter for instructions:

4. Set the second keyer in the MLE to be “on top” of first keyer you selected in step 3.
Press
KEY OVER
if necessary.
5. Select
PST PATT
in the second keyer.
6. Note the source that is selected on the
BKGD
(or
PGM
) bus, and select it as the key
source for the second keyer.
7. Adjust the shape of the mask in the second keyer by using the available pattern “tools”
in the
Pattern Control
and
Positioner
groups. In addition, ensure that key border is
turned off.
8. Using the buttons in the “next transition” section, transition
both keys
to air
simultaneously.
This completes the procedure to mask a key with a pattern generator.
Inverting Keys
Use the following procedure to invert a key. Note that all key types can be inverted.
1. Set up the desired key type and source, and clip the key using the controls in the
Effects
Control
group.
2. In the selected
MLE
keyer (or
Downstream
keyer), press
KEY INV
. The polarity of the
selected key is now reversed.
3. Re-adjust the key’s clip and gain settings as required. This step is often necessary when
a key is inverted.
4. Add additional key modifiers as required, then select the desired manual or auto
transition in the normal manner.
This completes the procedure to invert a key.
Flying Keys in 2D
The
Fly Key
function allows you to apply 2D DVE effects to any of the four key types, with the
ability to control the key’s size, horizontal position and vertical position. Note that all key types can be
flown.

) by toggling the
Key
Over
softkey between
On
and
Off
