Using Auto Transitions
The
AUTO TRANS
button in each Key group (including the DSKs) is used to start an automatic
(smooth) transition that brings the selected key on (or off) air. Note the following important auto
transition rules:
•
Two
different
auto-transition rates can be used to dissolve an MLE key:
~
If the
AUTO TRANS
button in the
MLE Transition
group is used in conjunction
with the “next transition” buttons, the rate is controlled by the
MLE RATE
button
in that MLE’s
Memory
group. The rate is displayed as
MLE:###
on the group’s
display.
~
If the
AUTO TRANS
button in an
MLE Keyer
is used, that rate is controlled by
the
KEY RATE
button in that MLE’s
Memory
group. The key dissolve rate is
displayed as
KEY:###
on the group’s display. This rate governs both keyers.
•
Two
different
rates can be used to dissolve a downstream key:
~
If the
AUTO TRANS
button in the
Program/Preset Transition
group is used in
conjunction with the “next transition” buttons, the rate is controlled by the
appropriate
MLE RATE
button in the
Global Memory System
group.
−
Synergy 2:
MLE 2 RATE
−
Synergy 3:
MLE 3 RATE
−
Synergy 4:
MLE 4 RATE
The transition rate is displayed as
M:###
on the
Global Memory System
group’s
display.
~
If the
AUTO TRANS
button in a
DSK
is used, that rate is controlled by the
DSK
RATE
button in the
Global Memory System
group. The rate is displayed as
D:###
on the display.
Each auto transition button has its own unique rate register — either rate can be used as required. This
important feature allows you to perform background transitions and key transitions at different rates
(typically, background transitions are
slower
than key transitions).
For example, with an MLE rate of 20 frames and a Key rate of 15 frames, you could fade in a key at
20 frames (using the
AUTO TRANS
button in the
MLE Transition
group), and fade out the key at
15 frames using the
AUTO TRANS
button in the
Key
group.
The following sections discuss changing auto transition rates for the MLE and Downstream keyers
only. Refer to the “
Auto Transitions
” section in Chapter 5 for instructions on changing the auto
transition rate in the
MLE Transition
group and
Program/Preset Transition
group.
Changing DSK Auto Transition Rates
Use the following procedure to change the transition rates for the
Downstream Keyers
:
1. Note the current DSK transition rate in the
Global Memory System
group’s display.
The DSK rate is displayed as
D:###
.
Note
For Synergy 2 only, the
MLE 1 RATE
and
KEY RATE
buttons are
located in the
Global Memory System
group.
