9. If desired, you can toggle the
Key Over
button between

Off
to change the
priority of the two keyers:

— Select

to change the priority to Downstream Keyer 1 , setting it over
(visually on top of) Downstream Keyer 2 .
•
Off
— Select
Off
to keep the priority as Downstream Keyer 2 over Downstream
Keyer 1 . This is the default setting.
10. Select and adjust additional key modifiers as desired. Refer to the section “ Using Key
Modifiers ” on page 7–49 for details.
11. If the key is a Preset Pattern key, select the desired wipe pattern and associated
modifiers in the Pattern Control Group . Refer to the section “ Performing a Preset
Pattern Key ” on page 7–32 for details.
12. Press
KEY PV
button to preview the Key.
13. Select the desired transition as follows:
• Press
CUT
(in the DSK Key Group ) to cut the key on (or off) air. Refer to the
section “ Key Cut Notes ” on page 7–47 for additional rules.
• Press
AUTO TRANS
(in the DSK Group ) to dissolve the Key On or Off . Refer to
the section “ Using Auto Transitions ” on page 7–45 for instructions on changing
transition rates. For additional rules, refer to the section “ Key Auto Transition
Notes ” on page 7–47 .
14. Use the proper DSK 1 or DSK 2 “next transition” button (in the Program/Preset
Transition Group ) to bring the Key on (or off) air during the next transition. Refer to
the section “ Working with Next Transitions ” on page 5–9 for instructions on the three
“next transition” buttons.
15. Take the selected DSK On or Off-air as follows:
• CUT — Press CUT (in the MLE Key Group ) to cut the Key on (or off) air. Refer
to the section “ Key Cut Notes ” on page 7–47 for more information.
• AUTO TRANS — Select an auto transition rate, then press AUTO TRANS (in the
MLE Key Group ) to dissolve the Key on (or off) air. Refer to the section “ Using
Operating
Tip
If you have the CDK-111A-M option installed, the KEY PV button is
disabled. Refer to the section “ Key Functions ” for details on operating
the Key Preview function with an external downstream keyer.
Note When you press AUTO TRANS in the Downstream Keyer 1 or 2
Groups , the following actions occur to show a transition in progress:
• The
DISS
button (in the Program/Preset Transition group)
lights.
• The DSK 1 or DSK 2 button lights (as appropriate).
• The status display above the Fader (in the Program/Preset
Transition group only ) briefly displays with the transition rate of
the selected DSK.
