Masking Keys with a Pattern Generator
While the Synergy series does not directly support masking keys with a pattern generator, it is
possible to achieve this effect by using a second keyer. Masking keys in this way allows you to
generate a soft-edged mask using
any shape
available in the pattern generator — instead of just a
hard-edged box.
Use the following procedure to mask a key with a pattern generator:
1. Ensure that your program/preview monitoring is set as required. Refer to the section
” on page 4–33 for details.
2. Select an input on the MLE’s
PGM
or
BKGD
bus. This provides the background over
which the key will appear.
Note
All elements of the
MASK
can be adjusted using the three side
scroll
knobs
or via the
positioner
on the panel. For a complete explanation
of the
positioner
, see the
Positioner Group
discussion at the end of
this chapter.
Note
This procedure uses both keyers, and refers to them as the
first keyer
and the
second keyer
. However, you can choose
either MLE keyer
to be
the first keyer, as desired.
