Chapter 7: Re-Assembly

ABL77 Service Manual

LCD Adapter Board

Introduction

Follow these steps to install the LCD adapter board.

CAUTION:

The cable connectors are very delicate and easily damaged. Use

caution when installing this cable into the connector. Do Not tug on the cable after
it is installed as the cable may pull free of the connector.

Step Action

1.

On the far right edge of the LCD adapter board is a tan or dark brown
colored 26-pin connector. Pull the locking mechanism on the
connector to the right.

2.

Pass the LCD display cable through the opening on the right PC board
guide.

3.

Hold the LCD display cable with the colored strip facing up. Place the
end of the cable closest to the notch in the LCD adapter connector as
far as it will go.

NOTE:

The disk drive cable includes a notch in the shielding at one

end of the cable.

4.

Push the locking mechanism in to the left to secure the cable.

5.

Insert the backlight cable into the 7-pin connector on the LCD adapter
board with the red wire towards the top of the board.

6.

Hold the LCD adapter board so that the LCD and backlight cables are
facing towards the right. The gold pins will be on the left (the IC chips
side of the board should be facing you).

7.

Insert the gold pins into the top row of the gold pins in the tan bracket
on the CPU (above the memory module) diagonally.

8.

Press the LCD adapter firmly towards the bracket so that the pins sit
securely in the top row. The pins must line up in a straight line.

9.

Press down firmly on the LCD adapter until the two latches (one on
top and one on the bottom) are engaged.
