Chapter 5: Dismantling 

ABL77 Service Manual 

CPU or Touch Screen Boards 

 

CPU or Touch 
screen boards 

Follow these steps to remove the CPU or touch screen controller boards as shown 
in Figure 5-28. 

 

Step Action 

1.  

If replacing the CPU board, remove the LCD adapter board, memory 
module and ChipDisk board. 

2.  

Disconnect the power cable from the left rear of the CPU board by 
pulling straight up. 

3.  

Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the right rear of the CPU board by 
pulling straight up. 

4.  

Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the four screws from the corners 
of the CPU board. 

5.  

Disconnect the two-wire power cable from the front of the touch 
screen controller board. 

6.  

Gently lift the CPU board and touch screen controller board assembly 
up and out. 

NOTE: 

Be careful of the cables in the back, and the disk drive cable 

on the right, which must slide out of the board guide. 

7.  

Remove the A/D cable from the rear of the CPU board. 

8.  

Remove the disk drive cable from the right of the CPU board. 

9.  

Disconnect the touch screen cable. 

10.  

Remove the four screws and the spacers from the corners of the board 
assembly. 

11.  

Pull apart the CPU and touch screen controller boards and replace the 
appropriate board.
