Cleaning
Introduction
This section explains the cleaning of the analyzer. Before cleaning the analyzer
always shutdown the computer (use the
Shutdown
button on the
Main Menu
) then
toggle the power switch to standby and unplug the system.
Screen
Use a clean, damp, non-abrasive cloth to clean the touch screen. Never allow
moisture to settle at the bottom of the screen. Any commercially available window
cleaner may be used. An alcohol-based cleaner, followed by a water-dampened
cloth can be used periodically. All liquids should be applied to a cloth and not
directly to the screen.
Long-term contact with abrasive materials will scratch the front surface, degrading
the image quality.
NOTE:
Do not use bleach products.
Analyzer
surfaces
Use a soft cloth with a disinfectant such as Cidex or Control III, etc. Bleach
solution, a 1:9 dilution of bleach (sodium hypochlorite) to water, may also be used.
The analyzer case should be kept clean of liquids and contaminants. Immediately
clean all surfaces as they become wet with liquids and contaminants.
Clean around the base of the analyzer where the cal pack rests before installing a
new calibration pack.
Never wipe the sensor cassette contact pins or analyzer connection port with a wet
or damp cloth.
Contact luers
Clean the exposed luers with disinfectant or bleach solution to remove electrolyte
deposits and blood proteins. These include both the calibrant manifold luers
located in the back of the analyzer and the sensor cassette nest luer in the front of
the analyzer.
