Battery Pack,
Continued
Charge the
battery pack
Follow the steps below to charge the battery pack. Use this procedure when
installing a new battery pack or when the analyzer is not functioning reliably on
battery power.
NOTE:
If the analyzer is not functioning properly on battery power and the
battery pack is greater than 18 months old, consider replacing the battery pack.
Batteries that do not display a manufacture date can be assumed to be greater than
18 months old and should be replaced. The manufacture date is identified on the
battery pack as a 4-digit code indicating the year and week (i.e. 0325 = 2003,
week 25 or June 16–22, 2003).
Step Action
1.
Power down the analyzer using the
Shutdown
button on the
Main
Menu
.
2.
Disconnect the battery charger.
3.
Test the battery charger according to the
Battery Charger
section in
this chapter. If the battery charger passes all tests, continue to the next
step.
4.
Remove the battery pack access panel at the rear of the analyzer.
5.
Carefully slide out the battery pack and disconnect from the analyzer.
Disconnecting the battery pack will reset the battery counter to zero.
6.
Wait 30 seconds.
7.
Reconnect the battery pack and replace the access panel.
8.
Reconnect the battery charger and connect it into an AC source.
9.
Turn on the analyzer. At the
Main Menu
proceed to the
Hardware
screen. Take note the initial
Bat
reading.
10.
Verify that the
Bat
reading slowly increases, indicating a charge cycle
has been initiated.
11.
If the
Bat
reading increases as expected, proceed to the next step.
•
If the
Bat
reading does not increase, verify the battery pack is
securely connected.
If the battery pack is… then…
not securely connected
secure the connection and repeat this
procedure
securely connected
replace the battery control board and
repeat this procedure.
If, after replacing the battery control
board, the
Bat
reading still does not
increase, replace the battery pack.
