Do not operate a chassis without either a filler panel or a module
installed in a slot.

Installing a module

Install a module to replace an existing module or to add new capability to
your Ethernet Routing Switch 8600. Installing a module takes three to five
minutes.

Prerequisites

•

If you insert a SAM into a chassis where another SAM resides, make
sure that the first module is fully initialized before you insert the
second.

CAUTION

Risk of equipment damage

Electrostatic discharge can damage hardware. Follow proper
ESD-elimination procedures.
