Connecting a PC or terminal to the SF/CPU or WSM

Install the #2-56 x .188 screws.

Insert the shorter screws into the oval holes in the sheet metal
mezzanine card bracket, not through the mezzanine card.

Replace the 8692 SF/CPU (with the newly installed CPU
daughter card attached) into the vacant chassis slot.

Connecting a PC or terminal to the SF/CPU or WSM

To establish a local CLI, NNCLI, or Device Manager session to the
Ethernet Routing Switch 8600, connect a PC or a VT-100 terminal to the
console port on the 8691 SF/CPU or 8692 SF/CPU module.

The port labeled “Maint” provides direct terminal access to the WSM.
When you connect to the WSM using the maintenance port, you have
direct access to the Web OS CLI. You do not see the top-level Ethernet
Routing Switch 8600 CLI. For information about the Web OS CLI, see Web
OS Switch Software 10.0 Command Reference, 212777-A.

You require a serial console cable with a 9-pin receptacle connector.
