Module installation and connection

CAUTION

Rick of electromagnetic interference

Do not operate the Ethernet Routing Switch 8600 with an empty
module slot. If you need to replace a failed module and you
do not have a replacement module, leave the failed module
installed or install a filler panel.

Operating the switch with an empty module slot can cause
electromagnetic interference to other equipment in the area.
Improper equipment cooling can also result.

Procedure steps

Step

Action

1

Disconnect any cables attached to the ports on the module.

2

Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two captive screws that
secure the module to the chassis.

Throughout the remainder of this procedure, the first figure
shows the 8003, 8006, and 8010 chassis; the second shows the
8010co chassis.
