IBM File Transfer
IBM File Transfer Settings
409
Data Format
Factory default: Binary
Files can be transferred in Binary or ASCII format.
Selecting
Binary
will cause the file to be transferred in its original
format without any translation. This is required when transferring
programs.
Selecting
ASCII
will cause the file transfer to be in text format. Text
files on the host are in EBCDIC format while those on the IBM emu-
lation are in ASCII. The file transfer program will convert ASCII
files sent from the IBM emulation to the host into EBCDIC format
so that they can be read on the host.
CRLF Delimiter
Factory default: Unchecked
The setting of this option determines whether or not Carriage Return
and Line Feed characters are included at the end of lines in a trans-
ferred file.
Append To Existing
Factory default: Unchecked
This only applies to MVS/TSO and VM/CMS host types. The set-
ting of this option determines what happens when a file being trans-
ferred has the same name as a file that already exists at the receiving
end. When unchecked, the existing file is overwritten by the trans-
ferred file. When selected, data in the transferred file is
appended to the existing file.
Local File
This text box is used to specify the name of a local PC file to be
transferred to the host, or to assign a different name to a host file
being transferred to the local PC.
