3 Enter a name for your array. You may use up to 32 characters (ASCII).
4 Select the RAID level for the array.
Click the pull-down menu and choose from the available levels. These are based on the number of drives
selected, refer to the “Drive Requirements” table at the beginning of this chapter.
(For RAID 50 arrays.) Create the sub-arrays. From the pull-down menu select the number of sub-
arrays you wish to create for this array. When you click the “Create” button you will get a warning if
you have selected more sub-arrays than allowed for the number of drives chosen. Reduce the
number of sub-arrays.
(For RAID 6) You must choose either 6, 11, 12, or 16 disk drives to enable the RAID 6 option.
Otherwise when the CREATE button is clicked a pop-up window with an error message is displayed
indicating that 6, 11, 12, and 16 drives are only supported for RAID 6. (

Note The Notes section under the Available Drives section will display information to help you with drive
selection. (

Note If you choose RAID Level 6 but the incorrect number of drives, you will see the following warning
message when you click the
CREATE button. Click OK and choose the correct number of disk for the
particular RAID level.
