SMT-HC3-C05 Notes and Rules
Keep in mind the following notes and rules when using the SMT-HC3-C05 module:
Status LEDs
For module LED states, refer to
Module Status LEDs on page 43.
H/S Hot Swap
Button 100Gb/40Gb Ports
SMT-HC3-C05 provides 5 100Gb/40Gb ports, each labeled
with a C prefix. The ports are designated as C1 to C5 from
left to right when viewed from the front.
For port LED states, refer to Port Status LEDs on page 43.

Transceivers
For details about the supported transceiver, cable type, and connectivity specifications, refer
to
“GigaVUE-OS Compatibility and Interoperability Matrix” .
Maximum SMT-HC3-C05
Modules Per Chassis
The maximum number of SMT-HC3-C05 modules per chassis is four if power is available.
Refer to
Power Management on page 55 . Each module can support up to five 100Gb ports,
for a total of 20.

OTE
:
If all modules in the chassis are 100Gb, there are no 10Gb ports with which to
connect tools. 10Gb ports are only available when ports are in 4x10G mode and require a
QSFP+ transceiver.

Network, Tool, Hybrid, or
Stack Ports
The 100Gb/40Gb ports on the SMT-HC3-C05 module can function as network, tool, hybrid,
or stack ports.
Stack-Links
The SMT-HC3-C05 module on GigaVUE-HC3 can connect to all GigaVUE nodes that
support 40Gb through a 40Gb stack-link, using SR4, ESR4, and LR4 optics, with the
following exception:
• PRT-HC0-C02 on GigaVUE-HC2
