GigaVUE-HC3 Hardware Installation Guide
Removing GigaVUE-HC3 Modules
Use the following procedure to remove a GigaVUE-HC3 module from the node with the
power on. The procedure shuts down the ports on the module.

MPORTANT
:
Hot removal of the module without following the listed steps can cause
system instability and require a reboot.
Before starting, make sure you are wearing an ESD-preventive wrist or ankle strap.
1.
Save map rules with the following CLI command:
(config) # config text generate active running save <name.txt>

To prepare the module for removal, press and hold the hot swap on/off button, then
release it. The LED will blink for a few seconds.

Pressing the on/off button is the same as issuing the following CLI command:
(config) # card slot <slot ID> down
3.
Wait for the module to shut down: RDY LED goes red; H/S LED goes solid blue.
4.
Slide the module out of the chassis and store it in a static-safe location.
5.
Insert the new module.
6.
Wait for the module to come back up: RDY LED goes green; H/S LED goes off.
7.
To verify the module is operationally up, issue the following two CLI commands:
(config) # show cards
(config) # show card slot <slot ID>

The output of the
show cards
command displays the operational status of the
module as
up
in the Oper Status field, as follows:
(config) # show cards

The processor on the SMT-HC3-C05 module may take a minute to become
operationally up. The
show card slot <slot ID>
command displays the status of the
card as well as the status of the processor. Issue the
show card slot <slot ID>
command to verify the processor state in the e1 State field. You may have to issue the
command a few times to watch the e1 State transition from down to up, as follows:
(config) # show card slot 3
