Setting the Crossover Subnet IP Address (Eth1)
A crossover cable is connected between the LAN B (eth1) ports of a VNM EC 200 pair. By
default, the crossover subnet IP address for this port is
192 . 168 . 253 . 0 . In most cases, this
is acceptable and does not need altered.
NOTES:
• If a network prefix or subnet of 192 . 168 . 253 . xxx is used for the main LAN A
(eth 0 ) ports, a crossover subnet IP address must be created that uses a different
network prefix or subnet.
• The
Crossover Subnet
field can only be changed when the VNM EC 200s are
unpaired (see Unpairing controllers on page 177).
• The Crossover Subnet field must be individually set on each VNM EC 200 within
the cluster. The entered values must also be identical.
• A crossover cable must be connected between the LAN B (eth1) ports of a
VNM EC 200 pair without using network equipment (such as a switch or router).
If necessary, use the following procedure to change the crossover subnet IP address (see
Accessing the Web‑based User Interface on page 11 for log in information).
1. Connect the two Ethernet ports (Eth1) together (see figure 2 on page 3 and Rear
Panel Features on page 8) using a crossover cable.
2. Log into the redundant primary VNM EC 200 and click the Configuration tab.

3. Click the Cluster link ( 2 ).
4. In the Crossover Subnet field (

), enter the desired crossover subnet IP address.
5. Click Apply Changes to save the configuration (

).
6. Log into the redundant secondary VNM EC 200 and repeat this procedure.
NOTE: When a crossover cable connects the primary and secondary VNM EC 200s
and the crossover subnet address on both (
3
) are set identically, the Crossover
status field displays connected .
