HLI Features
HLI commands:
•
Provide a single point of control for all VN-Matrix domains.
• Operates using TCP on port 9996 (SSH port 22 when running in secure mode).
HLI Connection and Control
HLI commands can be sent from the control computer to the EC 200 using the Remote
RS-232 port, the Ethernet port, or using the VNM EC 200 Web-based user interface (see
HLI Command Examples on page 194).
Ethernet Connection
When secure mode is not enabled, the HLI can be accessed using TCP by initiating a Telnet
connection to the IP address of the VNM EC 200 on port number 9996.
NOTES:
• If the IP address has not changed, the factory default IP address of a VNM EC 200
is 192.168.254.254.
• Ensure the Telnet service is installed.

C:\> telnet 192.168.254.254 9996 <enter>
When secure mode is enabled (see System Config Page on page 28), HLI can only be
accessed using a third party application that supports SSH via a TCP connection to the IP
address of the VNM EC 200 on port number 22.
NOTES:
• If the IP address has not changed, the factory default IP address of a VNM EC 200
is 192.168.254.254
• Ensure an application that supports SSH is installed
• If the admin user account of the Web-based user interface has not changed, the
login details match the factory default administrator profile:
username - admin
password - admin
Remote RS-232 Port (COM) Connection
The VNM EC 200 receives HLI commands from a control computer directly connected to
the RS-232 port (see
Rear Panel Features on page 8).
NOTE: The default configuration settings for the Remote RS-232 serial connector are:
• Baud rate – 115200
•
Parity bit – None
• Data bit – 8
• Start bit – None
• Stop bit – 1
• Flow control (handshake) – None
