3.3.2 Direct connection of plastic-insulated
cables up to 50 mm

Cu or Al to a 12 -
24 kV load-break switch/fuse panel
General
The panel is equipped with moulded-resin-insulated 24 kV
connections under the fuseholders. Virtually any type of
single-core plastic-insulated cable up to 50 mm
2
Cu or Al
may be connected to these. The cables must be
terminated in accordance with the instructions of the cable
manufacturer.
For these panels, Eaton can also supply fully terminated
plastic-insulated cables for operating voltages up to 24 kV.
These cables are designed with a core cross-section of 16
mm
2
and are obtainable in any length.
Required components (figure 1)

Three rubber sealing sleeves (a) for the cables

Three cable core bushes (b) with M8 internal thread

Three rubber sealing sleeves (c) with 3 sealing caps for
the non-cable side

Three hexagon socket head screws M8 x 25 with
conical spring washers and plain washers
The sealing sleeves and the cable core bushes are
correctly sized for the cable to be connected. The following
cable data are important in this respect:

the diameter across the primary core insulation after
removal of the semi-conductive layer of the cable core

the diameter of the cable core

the material of the cable core (copper or aluminium)

the type and manufacturer of the cable
The sealing sleeves and cable core bushes mentioned in
tables 1 and 2 can be supplied on the basis of the cable
data.

Note:
To seal the non-cable side, sleeve no. 1 (part number
612.424) must be used in combination with the supplied
plastic pin (part number 106.081).
