Installing the Detector
The

Matic PIPS detector normally installed into the PIPS detector mounting assembly
at the factory. The detector should not be removed from the mounting assembly
needlessly because of the potential to damage the detector and mounting assembly
during installation. The following instructions describe the proper method for
installing or removing the PIPS detector and mounting assembly. Directions may be
reversed for removal.
Step 1
Remove the Left and Right Rear bricks from the lead shield. If the PIPS Detector
Mounting Assembly had been previously installed, remove the two 6 - 32 x 3/8 in.
screws and lock washers that secure the detector assembly to the sample changer
rails, then carefully slide the PIPS Detector Mounting Assembly off of the rails.
Do not
use the PMT assembly projecting from the PIPS Detector Mounting
Assembly as a handle. Refer to Figure 41.
