Entering Calibration Source Information
For each step of the calibration appropriate parameters are entered from the menu
choices. The menu will automatically move to the following step as you select the
parameters required for each procedure.
Note: The default settings should be fine, at least to get started, for most users.
Entering Calibration Source Information
Note: A background blank, Americium alpha and Strontium beta standard, will
already be defined when the unit is received. These are the calibration sources
used to test the system at the factory.
1.
Press the
Setup
key.
2.
Using the arrow keys, position the cursor “>” to item “7” in the menu, Define
Std Sources, and press the
Enter
key.
3.
Using the arrow keys position the cursor “>” to select the desired standard
source to edit and press the
Enter
key.
4.
Using the arrow keys position the cursor “>” to select the desired standard
source template and press the
Enter
key. If the standard has been previously
defined, pressing the Enter key will prompt the user with the selected source
type (alpha, beta, or background blank). Pre-defined standards will default to
the appropriate type of emitter.

To modify the radionuclide name, use the up/down arrow keys to select
characters, and the right/left arrow keys to select the character position. Press
the
Enter
key to accept and advance to the next question.
6.
Using the numeric keypad, enter the radionuclide half-life in days, using
scientific notation as needed. The format is n.nnE+/-ee. Use the up/down
arrow keys to select the digit, sign, or “E”, and the right/left arrow keys to
select the position. Press the
Enter
key to accept and advance to the next
question.
7.
Using the arrow keys or the numeric keypad, enter the month of calibration
(January through December). Press the
Enter
key to accept and advance to the
next question.
8.
Using the arrow keys or the numeric keypad, enter the calibration day of the
month (1 through 31). Press the
Enter
key to accept and advance to the next
question.
9.
Using the arrow keys or the numeric keypad, enter the calibration year (1980
through 2079). Press the
Enter
key to accept and advance to the next question.
