The

Matic will interface via RS-232 to a PC running

Link. An RS-232
communications cable was supplied with the
i
Matic for this interface. Connect this
cable from the rear panel RS-232 connector to the PC. In order for
i
Link to retrieve or
download configuration information from or to the
i
Matic, the system must first be at
the home or idle screen. Below is what this screen looks like:

Automatic Operation

Link cannot send parameters to the
i
Matic while the unit is involved in or performing
any activity. Conversely,
i
Matic will not allow local changes to be made during the
transfer of parameters from

Link to the

Matic. During especially long transfers from

Link to

Matic you may see:

Please Wait
For Timeout or Release
Since most transfers happen very quickly, it is not likely that you will see this screen.
Barcode Reader
i
Matic supports the optional barcode reader. When installed, the barcode reader will
beep when it has correctly read a barcode installed on the sample slide mechanism. The
barcode will appear with the sample data on printed reports from
i
Matic if the Sample
ID field within the report definition is selected.
The barcodes should be encoded using Code 39 format and should have a maximum
length of 10 characters.
