AR550X
Tab: This tab allows the user to configure properties found only on the AR5500
model HHDs. If the specific device is not an AR5501 or AR5502 model HHD, the device
will ignore the settings on this tab.
•
User Name
: This box can be used to enter a user name for a device. The user name
will appear on the HHD, and will also appear on the AutoRead reports. The user name is
used only for reference and cannot be changed by the user in the field. If multiple users
operate the HHD, it is best to leave the
User Name
field blank.
•
Default Reading Direction
: This setting determines the order in which reading digits a
meter reader enters is stored in the HHD. In most cases, this setting should be kept on
Left to Right. If a meter reader enters a string of numbers in this order: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5,"
and the Reading Direction is Left to Right, the HHD will store the reading as "12345." If
the setting is Right to Left the HHD will store the reading as "54321." The Right to Left
setting is used mostly for entering readings from electric meters manually in a reverse
order.
•
Decimal Points in Reads
: This setting allows or disallows a meter reader to use decimal
points in a reading.
•
Limit Checks on AutoReads
: This setting determines whether or not the HHD will flag
a meter reader on a high or low reading that was performed electronically assuming the
high and low values have been provided by the billing program (manual reads outside
these limits will always be flagged). If a meter is read via TouchRead or RadioRead and
this setting is not checked, the meter reader will not be given a warning by the HHD if
the reading falls outside the billing program's expected reading range. The High and Low
limits for any meter are determined solely by the billing software, and will not be available
if the billing software does not provide the High and Low reading limits to AutoRead.
•
Enable Text Notes
: When enabled, this setting allows the operator to type in their own
notes using the HHD keypad. If disabled, their only option is to select one of the preset
notes.
•
Display Time
: This setting determines if the HHD will allow the meter reader to view the
current time on the HHD. The current time on the HHD is matched to the AutoRead PC's
clock during every load function.
•
Questions Precede Reading
: Dictates whether a meter reader will be prompted to
answer questions before or after a reading is performed on a meter that has had a
question added during the load process.
•
Suppress Route Search
: This setting is a demonstration mode for the HHD. This
setting should be left unchecked by a utility when meters are read for billing purposes.
This mode requires that a user be on the correct page in the HHD when entering touch
reads. If the setting is checked, and the user is not on the correct page in the HHD when
a touch read is performed, the HHD will not search for the correct page in the HHD, and
the reading is considered a non-route. (Not supported on the AR5000 model HHDs.)
•
Enable Lamp
: This setting enables or disables the light feature on the HHD. (Not
supported on the AR5000 model HHDs.)
•
Default Maximum Characters in Reading
: This setting determines the maximum
number of characters the HHD will allow a meter reader to enter for the reading.
•
Route Execution Direction
: This setting determines the route direction the HHD will
follow once the route is loaded. If the direction is set to Reverse, the first meter on the
route will actually appear last, and as the meter reader progresses through the route, the
route will proceed in reverse order. This setting is used when the meter reader wishes to
reverse the order of the meters in the HHD to read the route backwards. This is the only
modification that can be made to the order of the meters in the AutoRead system.
