• Check to see that the stands have electrical power. It can help to unplug the stands
from the power source (wall or power strip) and leave them unplugged for 15 seconds
and then plug them in again. Make sure that there is at least one light lit on the stand or
stands that you are trying to use.
• If the PC has been recently moved, or the cable has been switched to another port on
the back of the PC, the PC may no longer "see" the stands at the same port that they
were connected to originally. Try each available port on the back of the PC to see if
perhaps you have reconnected the cable to a different port after moving the PC.
When I try to go into AutoRead, I see the message
"There is a Mismatch Between the Database and the
Log File, Please Reinstall the Software and Restore
from a Backup." What should I do?
First of all, DO NOT re-install the software prior to contacting Technical Services at
1-800-638-3748. In MOST cases, you will not need to re-install the software.
Usually this error is caused because the PC or the AutoRead program crashed while
AutoRead was processing readings. If AutoRead is in the process of writing to the database
when the PC or AutoRead crashes, a mismatch often occurs. In other words, AutoRead is
no longer able to read the database, because it has missing or incomplete entries.
If you have many HHDs currently in the field collecting readings, it is very important that you
contact Technical Services before you attempt to process the units. To prepare for your call
with the Technician, you should attempt to locate a backup file for the AutoRead program.
These will end with either ".cbk" or ".sbk" for the file extension. If you are unsure where to
locate one, you may attempt a search by performing the following steps:
1. Click on the Windows
Start
button (usually in the lower left corner of the screen) and
then click
Search
and
All Files and Folders
. This will bring up the Search Utility.
2. In the Box titled
All or part of the filename
, type
*.cbk
.
3. In the Box titled
Look In
, change the entry to
My Computer
.
4. Click the
Search
button. The search may take several minutes.
5. If no .cbk files are found, change the file name in the
All or part of the filename
window to
*.sbk
, and choose
Search
again.
What does "Must Select a Route First" mean?
The error Must Select a Route First means that AutoRead does not "see" a route highlighted
on the Process Routes screen. In most cases, there may be a route highlighted, but
AutoRead does not acknowledge it if that is not where the Window focus is currently
located. The number of routes selected is noted at the bottom right corner of the AutoRead
program. To resolve this, simply click the route or routes that you were working with again
to ensure the window focus is on that route(s), You should then see the number of routes
selected in the bottom right corner is at least 1, and then perform the function that you were
attempting previously. You do not need to go back to an earlier function or clear the error
before trying again. The error will clear automatically once a successful function is carried
out on the route.
