Route Exceptions

What is a Route Exception?

A Route Exception is a meter record the AutoRead application has set aside, due to missing

or duplicated meter information. Because the purpose of the AutoRead system is to collect

meter readings, the importance of accurately identifying and tracking meters is paramount.

AutoRead requires certain basic information for every meter to ensure that the meter

readings are applied properly. Refer to the section entitled

The Five Required Fields

for

more information.

How can I tell if there are any Route Exceptions in my data?

If Route Exceptions exist, AutoRead will place a bold (e) next to the name of the route in the

Process Routes (Global View) screen after the route information is imported. This is to let

you know that there were Route Exceptions in the data that was Imported. The first thing to

check, if informed by the meter reader that there were meters missing from the route on the

HHD is the presence of the bold (e) next to the route name in the AutoRead Process Routes

screen. If no bold (e) exists next to the route name in AutoRead, then the meters were not

Route Exceptions. The billing software most likely did not include the meters as part of the

route file. Consult your billing software support if this is the case.

To view the Route Exceptions, double click the bold (e) and this will bring up the Route

Detail screen. Notice that this also highlights the specific route in the Tree View on the left

side of the screen. From the Route Detail screen, click the

Route Exceptions

tab.

Note

The

Route Exceptions

tab is only available if there are Route Exceptions to display. If there

is no Route Exceptions Tab, all of the route data was successfully imported into AutoRead,

and there were no duplicate or missing Meter IDs or Types. This is the desired situation.

The Route Exceptions screen displays a list of all meters that were set aside by AutoRead

during the Import operation due to missing or duplicate meter information. Because the
