data of the selected route before clearing. In most cases, the selected route should be in a
status of Complete (Data: Available) prior to performing a Clear step, however, the function
will return the selected route to No Meters (Data: Not Loaded) from any status.
Import
In order to perform this step, the selected route in AutoRead must be in a status of No
Meters (Data: Not Loaded). The Import function imports the route information contained in
the route file into the AutoRead database. The route file is created by the billing software
prior to executing the Import function. Each time a route is to be read, you should first
create a new route file in the billing program containing the meters to be read. This ensures
that the route data being importing into AutoRead is the most current data available from
the billing software. After executing the Import function, the status if successful of the
selected route should change to Ready to Load (Data: Not Loaded). At this point, questions,
if any, can be added to the route to be loaded. If an (e) appears to the left of the route name,
exceptions with the route file have been detected. Refer to the section on Route Exceptions.
If the status of the selected route did not change to Ready to Load (Data: Not Loaded),
check the column labeled Error for any errors and refer to Appendix A or contact Sensus
Technical Services at 1-800-638-3748.
Load Data
This function is for use on a route with a status of Ready To Load (Data: Not Loaded) or
on a programmer route of status No Meters (Data: Not Loaded). The Load Data function
erases what was previously in the device, and then loads the new route to be read, and/
or the programmer software. Upon successful execution of the Load Data command, the
route(s) status is Device Loaded (Data: Loaded). At this time, the device is ready for the
meter reader to collect the data on the unit. To select multiple routes, first click once on the
first route to be selected, and then hold down the
Ctrl
key on the keyboard and use the left
mouse button to select the others. Refer to Section
Loading Multiple Routes for more
information.
Read Data
This function reads the meter reading data from the HHD or VXU disk, generates an export
file containing the reading data, and creates the AutoRead Route Management Reports.
The status of the route(s) must be Device Loaded (Data: Loaded) in order to perform this
command. This function copies the information from the HHD or disk to the AutoRead
database. The information stays in the device until it is loaded again. Once successfully
read, the new status of the route is either Backup Required (Data: Available) or Complete
(Data: Available), depending on whether or not the
Backup Required
control box is
selected in the
Route Maintenance General
tab. If the status of the route or book does
not change from Device Loaded (Data: Loaded) after performing the Read Data function, an
error has occurred during the Read Data process. Check the Error column for any possible
errors, and refer to Appendix A or call Sensus Metering Systems Technical Services at
1-800-638-3748.
Note
:
If multiple RT Reader routes and/or programmer routes were originally loaded together
into a HHD, and are Device Loaded (Data: Loaded) for this device ID, they must ALL be
selected in order to execute the Read Data function. Otherwise, it will result in an Invalid Op-
Multi error and the function will not proceed. This does not apply to Vehicle routes. Refer to
Appendix A or Section
Loading Multiple Routes for more information.
