Using the Fault Simulator with Line Differential Protection Devices
The line differential protection is based on two protection devices that constantly communicate one with another via
a dedicated ProtCom protection communication interface. Therefore it is possible (and usually required) to execute
a fault simulation sequence on both devices simultaneously.
Of course, this kind of triggering the fault simulation simultaneously requires that the Protection Communication is in
active state.
The simultaneous start of the Fault Simulator takes into account the normal propagation delay of the Protection
Communication, that means: First the trigger signal is sent to the remote device, then the local device waits for a
particular time delay (corresponding to the communication delay), until finally the Fault Simulator is started.
