A green cross (x) indicates the the jitter transfer value has passed.
A red cross (x) indicates that the jitter transfer value has failed.
Yellow triangles (▲) indicate that the jitter transfer value is greater than the value measured by the test set.
13.4 Wander Measurement
Wander is the long term variation (less than 10 Hz) of the phase of a digital signal.
It requires a very stable external clock (reference clock) to run the measurements, since wander measurements are done over long periods.
Wander has some common synchronization measurements:
TIE Time Interval Error:
Phase difference between the signal being measured and the reference clock, usually in ns
MTIE Maximum Time Interval Error:
Displays the maximum TIE difference (peak-to-peak) during an observation time period
13.4.1 Setup
Clock Port:
Select the reference clock-- SMA, Balanced RX2, Unbalanced RX2 (Aux BNC)
SMA: Use signal received at the SMA port
RX2: Use the signal received at the 2.048/1.544 bps RX2 port
Clock External:
Select the reference clock rate
SMA: 1.544MHz, 2.048MHz, 1.544Mbps, 2.048 Mbps, 64kbps
RX2: 1.544, 2.048 bps Balanced
