For applications where two or more 

i

Series instruments are installed at the 

same location, a serial switching device can be installed to help with 
communications. The serial switching device enables communication to 
occur with multiple instruments (including non-company serial devices) 
with the use of only one phone line. Command codes can be sent over the 
phone line to trigger a particular serial port and, therefore, allow 
communication with the connected instrument. RPComm can be 
configured to operate with these devices and send the required command 
codes. 

Refer to this section if you are connecting two or more instruments of the 
same model to a serial switching device. 

Use the following procedure to set up a serial switching device.
