E-POWER drive mode
E-POWER mode is activated by default . It allows
driving purely on electric power up to a speed of
approx. 90 mph (140 km/h) and a maximum range
of up to 30 miles (50 km).
The electric range depends on the driving style,
the climatic conditions and the use of energy-in-
tensive loads.
An attentive driving style and restrained use of en-
ergy-intensive loads have a positive effect on the
electric range available.
Information
The accelerator pedal has a hybrid-specific pres-
sure point in E-POWER mode for optimum meter-
ing of the electric power. The combustion engine is
switched on when this pressure point is exceeded.
Activating E-POWER mode

Turn the mode switch to position E .
The light indicator for the selected drive mode
lights up and the drive mode is displayed in the
digital speedometer.
If the prerequisites for E-POWER mode are not met
(e.g. high-voltage battery not sufficiently charged),
a message appears on the instrument cluster after
E-POWER mode is activated.

Status display for E-POWER mode
The availability of electric power only is indicated in
the Power & Drive gage on the instrument cluster.
E-POWER mode is activated and the
vehicle is running purely on electric
power.
HYBRID drive mode
Three different operating modes are available in
HYBRID mode: HYBRID AUTO, E-HOLD and E-
CHARGE.
HYBRID AUTO mode
HYBRID AUTO mode is activated by default in
switch position H . It enables the most efficient op-
eration of the vehicle to be predicted taking into
consideration route-specific data from the naviga-
tion system and the current speed. HYBRID AUTO
mode is automatically activated as soon as the
high-voltage battery charge is too low for opera-
tion in E-POWER mode.
E-HOLD mode
E-HOLD mode enables the currently available high-
voltage battery charge to be deliberately main-
tained so the vehicle can run purely on electric
power later on, for example. Boosting and re-
stricted electric driving are still possible in this
mode, however this can result in charge
fluctuations.

E-CHARGE mode
In E-CHARGE mode, the high-voltage battery can
be charged while driving. This mode is useful for
specifically increasing the electric range, particu-
larly on journeys with a high level of combustion
engine-powered driving. The high-voltage battery
can be charged when driving on a highway, for ex-
ample, so that an urban route can then be driven
using purely electric power.

SPORT and SPORT PLUS drive
mode

SPORT mode
The combustion engine is always in operation in
SPORT mode. The engine and transmission also
have a sporty tuning. The high-voltage battery is
charged to the minimum level to provide the boost
function.
SPORT PLUS mode
The combustion engine is always in operation in
SPORT PLUS mode. The engine and transmission
also have the sportiest tuning possible. The high-
voltage battery is fully charged as quickly as pos-
sible to enable more frequent and longer boosting.
The maximum speed is available.
