Hood
Opening the hood
NOTICE
If the windshield wipers are folded forward when
you open the hood, the wipers or the hood can be
damaged.
e
Make sure that the windshield wipers are not
folded forward when opening the hood.
e
Always switch off windshield wipers before
opening the hood (wiper lever in position
0 ). If
the wiper arms are not at their final position,
they will automatically move to this position
when the hood is opened, even if the ignition is
switched off.
e
The wiper arms remain at this position until the
hood is closed and the windshield wipers are
switched off and then on again.

1. Open the driver's door.
2. Pull the release lever.

3. Lift the hood up slightly and press the release
lever .
4. Open the hood fully.
Closing the hood
CAUTION
Heavy hood
When closing the hood when it is open half way, the
hood's own weight can cause it to fall into the lock.
e
Never put objects or your fingers near moving
parts (hinges) or under the hood.
1. Let the half-open hood fall into the lock from
when it is open half way. If necessary, push the
hood closed with the palm of your hand in the
area of the lock.
2. Check that the hood is engaged correctly in the
lock and that the release lever is back in its ini-
tial position (Fig. 70).

A warning appears on the instrument cluster if
the hood is not engaged properly. Open the
hood again and let it fall into the lock. If neces-
sary, push the hood closed with the palm of
your hand in the area of the lock.
Pedestrian protection
Sensors in the front bumper detect a collision with
an passenger or similar object. The rear part of the
hood then pops up to reduce the force of the
impact.
CAUTION
Non-activation of the pe-
destrian protection
system
Following a collision without triggering of pedes-
trian protection, the system may be faulty.
e
Have the pedestrian protection system
checked, even if it has not been triggered.
e
Visit an authorized Porsche dealer. Porsche
recommends an authorized Porsche dealer, as
they have trained technicians and the neces-
sary parts and tools.
Closing the hood after pedestrian
protection is triggered
If pedestrian protection is triggered, a message
appears on the instrument cluster.
