Pedestrian warning
If the system detects a possible collision with a
pedestrian, it can warn the driver in a vehicle
speed range of approx. 8 – 53 mph (12 – 85 km/h)
through a warning tone and the symbol in the
instrument cluster. The pedestrian warning is out-
put if a pedestrian is standing or moving onto the
driving lane. Even with this warning, the driver may
still have to swerve or brake sharply in order to
avoid a collision. The warning time varies accord-
ing to the traffic situation and the driver's behavior.

Impaired PAS detection
performance
The following points must be observed:
– In conditions of poor visibility, e.g. fog, heavy
rain or snowfall, pedestrians cannot be de-
tected in all cases.
– The PAS pedestrian warning does not respond
to animals, crossing, or poorly visible objects.
– The PAS pedestrian warning can trigger unin-
tentional warnings in complex driving situations
owing to internal limitations of the system.
– In the event of restricted or switched-off PSM
functionality, the pedestrian warning is
deactivated
