2-6 Setup and Operation
SETUP UTILITY
The Setup utility is used to view and set system parameters. Use the Setup utility program
to:
n
set the time and date.
n
check or change the diskette drive type.
n
update or check system parameters when you add or remove PCI/IDE expansion
options.
n
check or change the video device.
n
check or update memory cache or shadow settings.
n
check or update the system’s boot sequence.
n
check or update keyboard settings.
n
check the installation of optional memory by comparing the amount of memory
installed with the amount of memory displayed by Setup.
n
customize your system with security features such as Supervisor and user login
IDs and passwords.
n
correct a hardware discrepancy when the Power-On-Self-Test (POST) displays an
error message and prompts you to run Setup.
n
reset system parameters in the event that you need to replace the RTC/battery
module
n
reset system parameters after clearing CMOS.
