Finishing Up 5 1/4-Inch Storage Device Installation
After you have installed the 5 1/4-inch storage device in the drive cage, proceed as follows
to complete the installation procedure.
1.
Push the drive cage up against the chassis and secure it in place with the five
previously removed screws.
2.
Install the metal cover plates over any empty slots and secure them with the
previously removed screws.
If you installed a hard disk in the 5 1/4-inch slot, install a metal cover plate over
the slot.
3.
Install the slot covers over the empty slots by snapping them into the slots in the
metal cover plates.
If you installed a hard disk in the 5 1/4-inch slot, install a slot cover over the
metal cover plate.
4.
Install the front panel to the chassis with the four previously removed screws
(two to a side).
5.
If you have installed a 1.2-MB diskette drive, remove the protective cardboard
insert from the drive.
6.
Replace the system unit cover.
Be sure you do not pinch any cables or wires when you replace the cover.
7.
Connect external peripherals and power cables.
8.
Run the Setup, ECU, or SCSI utility to set your new configuration (see Section
2).
3 1/2-Inch Drive Installation
To install a 3 1/2-inch hard disk drive inside the system unit, the top cover must first be
removed. A 5 1/4-inch hard disk drive must be installed in the 5 1/4-inch drive cage.
Instructions for installing a 5 1/4-inch device were provided earlier in this section.
