5.4.2.5 Adjusting the front wheel toe-in. For checking the toe-in of the front wheels,
see that the tires have been inflated to the rated pressure and measure difference in distance B1
and B (Fig. 67) across the wheel rims. For checking follow this procedure:
- place the truck on an even hardly-paved horizontal site so that the front wheels are posi-
tioned for the straightforward travel of the truck;
- using a measuring rule, check distance B1 between the wheel rim beads in the rear sec-
tion at the level of wheel centers and mark these points. Roll the truck, so that these marks are in
front and check distance B. In front the distance must be 1-3 mm less than that in the rear. If the
difference of the distances measured between B1 and B is beyond the limits, readjust by changing
the length of the lateral steering rod after slackening the bolts on the lateral steering rod ends. Up-
on readjusting the toe-in, tighten the rod end bolts. Angles of turn are limited by non-adjustable
thrusts.
