5.2.4.3 Front axle final drive differs from that of the rear axle by the drive flange. Spac-
ing sleeve 21 (Fig.40) with cap 22 is fitted on the front end of the front axle driving gear shaft,
flange 21 on the rear end. Rear axle final drive has a flange at the driving bevel gear side. Splines
may be unavailable on the opposite end of the driving gear shaft.
Axle cases 10 (see Fig. 41) are combined of cast middle part and tubular half-axle cas-
ings pressed therein. The half-axles are full floating, splined with the hub.
5.2.4.4 Front axle is a driving, steerable unit. Design of the front driving axle steering
knuckle unit is shown in Fig. 44. Torque is transferred to the front driving wheels via half-axles
and hinges with equal angular velocity (Fig. 45).
