5.9 Special equipment
Lay-out of auxiliary units, their drives and power take-off modes should be agreed with
the manufacturers. Propeller shafts installed by a customer for driving auxiliary units should have
disbalance of not more than 40 g.cm and the effort of shifting in splined joints of no more than
150 N (15 kgf).
5.9.1 Power Take-off
The power take-off (PTO) is single-speed one, fastened to the right side of gearbox hous-
ing and designed for driving auxiliary units. There are two versions of power take-off: with a
pump (see Figure 127) and with a flange (see Figure 143).
Engage power take-off at the air pressure of 500 kPa (5 kgf/cm
2
) minimum in truck air
system and disengaged clutch. Adjusting shims are installed between flanges of the gearbox hous-
ing and power take-off housing. The side clearance in gear meshing is adjusted (by noise) with the
help of the above mentioned shims. If it is required to change the old shims by the new ones, their
thickness should be kept unchanged.
Information about power take-off control is presented in the subsection «5.2.2 Transfer
case».
