- placing explosive and inflammable substances or devices (e.g. spray bottles, etc.) in the
heater heat flow area;
- using the heater in an unaired area;
- using the heater with the damaged fuel supply system;
- starting and using the heater poured over with fuel;
- switch on heating when transporting flammable cargoes at temperatures above minus
5
°
С
in order to avoid fire;
- switching on and using the heater near gas-filling stations and other places with in-
flammable vapors or significant amounts of explosive dust (carbon, wood dust, etc.) in the air.
Keep the independent air heater switched off at gas-filling stations and during fuel tank-
ing.
In case of the fuel ignition, switch off the independent air heater immediately and use the
fire extinguisher if necessary.
Attention! Do not extinguish burning fuel with water.
2.1.27 If burnout loss signs or fuel and combustion products smell is detected in the cab,
switch off the heater. Further operation of the heater is possible after removing the causes occa-
sioned the exhaust gases penetration in the cab.
2.2. Precautions
Proper operation of the truck and its long service life can be ensured if you observe all
recommendations given in this Manual.
2.2.1 Before operating the truck, you should carefully read the section "PRECAU-
TIONS", "SAFETY REQUIREMENTS".
2.2.2 When running the first 1000 km (50 hours of engine operation), comply with the
rules described in Section “New Truck Running-in”.
2.2.3 Before starting the engine, you must carefully read the section "Power unit start,
operation and stop" of the power units operating manual.
2.2.4 To prevent air penetration in the fuel feed system do not burn all the fuel from the
fuel tank.
2.2.5 See that the preheater fuel pump is adjusted correctly, not allowing open flame in
the gas conduit of the heat exchanger.
2.2.6 Do not allow the preheater to operate for more than 15 sec without a coolant in the
heat exchanger. Upon washing the truck or its fording, engage the pump unit for 2-3 min to re-
move water from the preheater air duct.
2.2.7 Warm up the engine till switching on all the cylinders and changing the engine
speed when changing the fuel supply; start travelling at low gear.
It is recommended after the engine start for its uniform heating and increasing the tem-
perature in the cab, start traveling at low gear after the coolant has been heated up to 40 °C.
The optimum temperature of the working engine coolant should be 75-100 °C.
