8 Maintenance
The maintenance is intended to keep the truck in the operable condition and proper ap-
pearance, in order to reduce the wear intensity of parts, to prevent failures and malfunction as well
as to detect them in order to provide their timely elimination. The maintenance is a preventive
compulsory measure which is conducted regularly according to the plan with the frequency de-
termined by the truck runs or operation periods.
The periodic and qualitative maintenance in the stated volume ensures the constant tech-
nical serviceability of the truck and reduces the repair requirements. In order to fulfill the works
properly, it is recommended to perform maintenance on special stations equipped with all the nec-
essary tools and accessories.
The works connected with the adjustment and maintenance of the engine feed system
units, electrical equipment, hydraulic systems should be carried out by qualified specialists.
8.1 Types of Maintenance
Depending on the maintenance schedule and labor input the maintenance is subdivided
into the following types:
- Daily Maintenance (DM);
- Servicing after trip
- Maintenance in the initial period of operation after the run from 1500 up to 3000 km,
(M-(1500-3000));
- Maintenance every 15 000 km (M-15 000).
8.2 Maintenance Schedule
Daily maintenance is performed before the truck departs to the line and after it returns.
Maintenance in the initial period of operation is performed after the first run from 1500
km up to 3000 km (50-100 hours of engine operation).
Maintenance of special purpose vehicles intended for technological operations (repair
trucks, truck cranes, specialties for oil-and-gas industry etc.) shall be performed according to hour
meter (30 km of truck run corresponds to one engine hour).
For trucks indented for transportation (tank trucks, tippers, personnel crew carriers, bol-
ster trucks, sided truck buses etc.) the maintenance shall be performed according to truck run.
The truck running and the time of power unit operation between the maintenance opera-
tions are given for the first operational category in compliance with State Standard GOST 21624.
The maintenance schedule is adjusted depending on the category of operational conditions of the
truck in accordance with Table 13 and climatic areas of the truck operation in accordance with
Table 14. In order to calculate the general adjustment coefficient, it is necessary to multiply the
coefficients stated in Tables 13 and 14. In order to define maintenance schedule depending on op-
erational conditions, it is necessary to multiply the schedule for the first category of operational
conditions by the general adjustment coefficient.
