5.3 Running gear
5.3.1 Frame
The truck frame is a riveted structure consisting of two stamped variable-section side-
members interconnected by six cross-members and a bumper in front.
Frame servicing lies in inspection of bolted and riveted connections. See that frame con-
figuration and strength of its elements are not impaired. If the rivets are loose, cut them off and
replace by the new ones. It is allowed to replace loose or cut off rivets by bolted connections us-
ing the 8.8 bolts and nuts with lock nut.

5.3.1.2. The «hook-loop» type towing device (according to GOST 2349).
On the customer request, it is technically feasible to install the «hook-loop» type towing
device (supplied as spare parts for Ural trucks) for operation with trailers as per GOST 2349-75
dimension type 3. The coupling hook general dimensions should correspond to GOST 2349-75 for
the dimension type 3.
The towing unit is secured in a special towing cross-member.
Rod guides of the towing hook are greased by means of lubricators, when servicing
the truck. The hook should be turned freely by hand in the support of housing 2 (Fig.47) and in
bushing 6.
