3. Remove the lock ring. For this purpose insert the flat end of the short tire iron into the
dismantling slot of the lock ring and press its end out of the rim; then move the lock upwards, us-
ing the second iron, and completely release the lock from the rim by pressing it out of the rim and
gradually moving along the wheel circle.
4. Remove the bead ring from the rim.
5. Dismantle the tire bead:
- stand on the tire on the side opposite to the inner tube valve, upset the tire casing down
to the mounting groove and insert a part of the tire bead in it;
- insert flat ends of the tire irons between the tire rim and bead in the valve area at a dis-
tance of 200-250 mm from each other (Fig. 54, III) and pressing them, move a part of the bead
through the bead seat upwards (take it to the outside of the rim). In so doing the opposite side of
the tire bead must be in the mounting groove of the rim;
- holding the dismantled part of the tire bead with one of the irons, completely move the
bead along its whole length upwards, using the other iron, inserting sequentially its flat end be-
tween the rim and tire at a distance of 70-100 mm to the right and left of the place, where the tire
bead goes to the outside. To avoid the bead injury insert the tire irons for the whole width of the
bead.
6. Turn over the tire and the wheel with the lock part facing downwards and remove the
tire bead from the second bead seat, following the procedure described in paragraph 2.
7. Take the rim out of the tire:
- set the wheel with the tire in the upright position with the lock part away from you so
that the inner tube valve is at the bottom, recess the valve with the seal to the inside of the tire;
- holding the tire by hand in the upright position and leaning it against a support, pull the
rim by the other hand, avoiding skewing, so that the tire bead at the bottom enters the mounting
groove;
- taking hold of the disk or upper part of the rim, extract the rim out of the tire, preventing
its falling down.
If the flap is stuck, separate it with the tire iron.
