trimmed spots and the spots, where paint is damaged, with a fast-drying enamel, having eliminat-
ed burrs and metal scores first.
Check setting of the locking ring on the rim and on the control cylinder having the same
diameter:
- clearance in the seam between the ring ends should be 45-55 mm, loosening of the
ring ends from the rim — 1.5 mm, along the arc up to 50 mm;
- local clearances between the lock ring and rim should not exceed 1.5 mm and smoothly
decrease to both sides along the arc not more than 1/4 of circle;
- twisting of the lock ring should not exceed 15 mm.
If the clearances and twisting of the lock ring exceed the said numbers, the ring is not
suited for assembling and should be fluted and squeezed or replaced by a new one.
The wheel parts, which have infringed shape and cracks, should be rejected as well.
The wheels and tires, which are only in good working order, are subject to mounting (op-
eration).
When mounting and dismantling tires, the safety regulations should be observed as
follows:
- do not remove and do not put the wheel with tire onto the truck, if you are not con-
vinced that the wheel has been hung up securely. Slack off and tighten the nuts on the truck
that is not hung up and is braked. Final nuts tightening should be done in a criss-cross manner;
- deflate the tire before taking the wheel off the hub and before disassembling the tire
from the rim;
- do not use sledge hammers, pinch bars, faulty installation tools and the tools, which are
not provided by technical documentation, and can deform or cause mechanical damages of wheel
components, cuts and breaks of the tire casing beads, injuries of the inner tube and flap;
- do not mount the tire onto the rim that does not conform to these tire sizes;
- do not use the bead and lock rings from a different type of wheel, because they can
have different design dimensions (regarding diameter and profile), even with the same model of
trucks, which have been produced on different dates and have got different design of their
wheels;
- do not set additional bead rings onto the rim to reduce its width;
- do not use the rims, bead and lock rings, which are noncircular and have damaged sur-
faces, local dents, cracks as well as mud, rust and excess paint;
- do not operate the truck if a single nut or stud fastening the wheel is missing or fas-
tening holes in the disks are worn-out or wheels have wobbling;
- do not use the tires, which have maximum wear of their tread pattern (residual depth of
protrusions less than 1,6 mm) or tires with ply separation of the tire carcass, peeling of the tread
pattern or sidewall, non-repaired local damages, cuts or breaks, which reach the cord, and through
punctures or injuries of the metal bead rings of the tire casings;
- do not allow to mount the tire casings, which have excess rubber, pressed-out rubber
and flashes on the edge, scores and damages, which obstruct mounting;
- when mounting or dismantling tires, do not apply rough force to tire irons; the force ap-
plied should not result in their sliding off or break of tire iron ends;
- first, make sure that the lock ring occupies its proper position in the rim base groove,
which corresponds to the inflated wheel, and then inflate the tire;
- do not inflate the tire outside a special protection enclosure, and the tire to be inflated
should not be mounted on the truck; in the field use the safety devices, which prevent ejection of
parts, if spontaneous dismantling or wheel break occurs;
- do not inflate the tires from the bottles with compressed air or gas as it will cause tire
destruction and injure the people, who stand nearby.
