- free some space between truck tractor and semitrailer;
- drive the truck tractor backward slowly to the semitrailer so that the semitrailer pivot
enters into the grips of the bolster. The truck tractor and the semitrailer are hitched automatically;
- apply the truck parking brake. Check that the self-release safety lock 2 (Fig. 124)
pushed down and prevents the lever from being pulled;
- lift the semitrailer support in the extreme top position and fix it securely;
- plug the semitrailer power cable in the socket;
- connect the truck brake air hose to the connecting heads of the semitrailer;
- release the semitrailer parking brake;
- drive the road train forward for some distance; make sure that the truck tractor and the
semitrailer have been hitched properly, the brakes and electrical equipment of the semitrailer are
in good working order.
When hitching the truck tractor with semitrailers of different brands, adjust the distance
between the clips on the hoses to prevent them from tearing resulting from the friction on the pro-
jecting parts of the truck.
Prior to unhitching select the flat site for semitrailer parking.
Perform the unhitching in the following order:
- apply the semitrailer parking brake;
- lower the semitrailer support until it rests on the ground in order to unload truck tractor
springs. In case of emergency unhitching on the soft ground, place the pads under semitrailer sup-
port;
