Gatekeeper (All units)
Use the Gatekeeper folder to enter the IP address for a primary and optional
secondary Gatekeeper.
This information is recorded on the Common Configuration
worksheet described in Section 3.2.6 of this document, and can also
be entered for selected unit groups using the Edit Data/Edit
Common Configuration items on the Unit menu. See Section 5.8 for
the procedure using the Common Configuration facility in the
Maintenance Console Software.
When an H.323 BV1250 network is implemented, a Gatekeeper device
must be configured as part of the network. Provisions are also made for a
secondary (backup) device in the Gatekeeper Zone.
If no Gatekeeper is used, the BV1250’s internal DNS features and/or an
external DNS server must be used. In this case, no entries are required for
Gatekeeper devices.
When an H.323 Gatekeeper address is entered during unit
configuration, the Gatekeeper takes precedence over all other
network management facilities. All external DNS and BV1250
internal DNS settings will be ignored.
Use the Configure Gatekeeper section to configure the IP addresses for up
to two network Gatekeepers.
Gatekeeper 1
Type the IP address for the first (primary) Gatekeeper. The IP
address must conform to Internet Protocol addressing
requirements.
Gatekeeper 2
Type the IP address for the second (secondary) Gatekeeper.
The IP address must conform to Internet Protocol addressing
requirements.
