Access Codes
The BV1250 unit automatically determines whether a placed call is fax or
voice and it is not necessary to use Access codes with the unit.
Optionally, fax and voice Access codes can be configured when required
by certain applications. When an Access code is configured, the BV1250
removes the Access Code digit(s) from the numeric calling string and
passes the remaining digits along to complete the call connection.
As mentioned in the preceding section, the BV1250 can be configured to
interpret these Access Codes at the beginning or the end of the called
number.
In the sample network diagram, all ports with a fax terminal attached,
have been configured with the # symbol located at the beginning of the
dialing sequence. For example, when sending a fax from the Los Angeles
office facsimile machine (extension 4 on unit 8) to a New York office
facsimile machine, the following would be dialed: #-21-7000.
